Types of Savings accounts? Who knew...

Guest Post

Maybe I am just young and na├»ve, but I never realized that there were different types of savings accounts. I just assumed that they were all the same. You go to the bank you put your money in an account that is not as easily accessible as say, a checking account, and the money accumulates a very small amount of interest as it sits there. I didn't really think there was a whole lot more to it outside of that. Apparently, I was pretty wrong... The savings account that I always pictured in my head is sometimes called a “passbook savings account”. This perfect for some one young, especially students, who don't really have a ton of money. They generally don't have a minimum balance, or if they do, it's usually pretty low. On the flip side of that, the interests rates are also pretty low. You won't really be making much money with such low rates on a small sum of money. Still, if you're like me, and spend anything that ever gets deposited in your checking account, its not a bad idea to have a safe place to store the money you want to save up. Another option is something called a “money market account”. In a money market account the interest rates are generally higher, but you also need to keep a high minimum balance. There are also sometimes restrictions about the number of withdrawals that can be made in a single month. You can open a savings account from a bank or from a credit union. You should always make sure to find out if there any fees associated with the account too. Some places charge you a monthly fee no matter what, while others charge you a fee only if your balance goes below a certain number. It's good to know I have options now. The “passbook” account I had when I was younger was fine at the time, but now that I know there is more out there (and now that I am starting to be able to put away more money) I am starting to wonder if it is still my best option.

Swimming made him got up...

My 6yo son has his swimming lesson everyday Wednesday morning right straight out after we dropped them to school, their very first lesson of the day. So glad, I don't need to pay anymore swimming classes outside for their school provides it all. This is my son's second time time of swimming lesson since he joined the new school - and is the reason why he got up early this morning without a fuss. Imagine, just this once he got up without whinging and whining (as he always do) but said instead, 'how glad he is for it is morning'. Just because he was so excited for his swimming lesson. It's one big plus for the school to have their own pool as they can give every kid at their school a chance to learn how to swim without the parents having to search or enroll them anywhere. Though, the payment is includes with school fees but having to go in a different place for a swimming lessons is a lot hassle, right? Luckily, my kids has it at their school.

Mama's birthday...

It's my Mother's birthday couple of days ago and I greeted her via txt messages. I am going to speak to her soon - perhaps tonight after our dinner. I was just busy browsing to this birthday for her gifts online shop hoping I'll find something appropriate for her before I ring but seems I'm having a hard time picking one as they have far too many good potential gifts that I'd thought Ma would like. So, it is best to ring her tonight and ask what it is exactly she would like to get. I know she'll insist not to bother but she deserve a treat once in a while as she is the most wonderful mother in the whole wide world.

Sailing Club

Daddy just got an email from the school reminding us to submit the form this Monday for sailing club. Kath is starting the lesson next Month. Ah, imagine how exciting would that be? She is anxious and I can see the anticipation in her eyes while hearing all this good news. Yes, they are going to experience all these things. With all these activities coming I imagine a long list of equipment to buy in the next couple weeks. Oh well...

My Princess's room...

Leaving his pink room was hard for me but unfortunately my daughter didn't battle an eyelid. She kinda grown out of pink these days - she said she is already a grown up and wanted a grown up room. So, her new room is no longer pink as she was given a choice of colours between pink and purple and surprisingly she asked if she could have a magnolia. I was like, what? I couldn't disagree more though because if it is what she likes then she'll get it. It was easier for us to repaint and redecorate her new room in our new house because it is already white and turning it into magnolia is not a big deal. But I'd stress to embellish her room as many pink as I can find, haha. I think the problem is me, whom so wanted a pink room in the first place, not her. She had enough of the so-pink-room and now she wanted a change and had an idea of her own. Anyway, I'm still undone decorating her room. As of the moment it is still very empty and simple. Again, she like it already. But myself is looking for more accessories to go in her room. She has a bigger room this time, well BIG room, so spacious. Even a room for a sofa or television. But, I'm not holding my breath because Daddy is not allowing any electronics gadgets in each of my kids room apart from their DS's. Anyway, I have bought a new accessories this afternoon and even found a perfect floor length mirrors for her and I really love it. But sad to say it is quite expensive and I think it is not practical to pay that much for a child mirror. Well, I find something similar perhaps and maybe affordable ones. Anyway, here's a few pictures of her old room from our previous house. I bet, the people who rent our place already painted it over with a neutral colour. They said, they are going to as they are not a big fan of pink ;-(

He is very thoughtful, I'm so blessed...

Well, what can I say? I have got the man with a complete package a woman can ask for. To think that he can never leave us without knowing we're all okay while he is away for a week. Making sure that I have cash in my wallet (literally) even though I have bank cards and could get cash at anytime in any cash point as it is only just in the end of our street. Still he is not convinced so he left me some cash anyway, in case I have any problem with my bank cards so I'll have alternative. He have a got a point though. And oh, some grocery as well even if we are also 10 minutes (walk) to the shopping centre/town and supermarkets. And to top it all, he even bought us the bus ticket for the whole week as well as people to call (in case of emergency), trusted taxi numbers and some check. He worries of me and the kids all the time. So making sure I have everything I need is his priority before he fly. Yes, he is that amazing, truly is! Sweet as honey! Therefore, I'm blessed!

Complete Facilities...

There are advantages putting the kids into private school, not only academically but also physically. Imagine, the kids school meal is included (no need to pay £80 a month like we used to. More after school clubs choices, they have complete facilities such as swimming pool, Gym, sports ground, sailing club, ski slopes and many more...Oh each term they have types of music lessons. My daughter will be having her piano lessons soon. She will do guitar lesson next and it requires a good new Hipshot. Most likely a violin in Autumn term too. Every week they have their swimming - first lessons every Monday and Wednesday morning at the school very own swimming pool. They'll have tennis court as well and probably my kids will be taught twice a week too. And on winter, they'll have their ski lessons. A lifetime experience it will be and they are very lucky. I couldn't be more grateful for them!

So tidy playroom again...

This morning right after send the kids to school I decided to clean and organise the kids playroom upstair (top floor) and it is now looking immaculate. But I wonder whether it would last a second? It didn't because my toddler was with me and while I was putting the toys away, he is also there taking it out. Funny, how a little child can make a lot of mess in just a matter of seconds. That is why I refuse to tidy their playroom everyday, I can't be bothered anymore. I think twice a week is good enough, even once a week will do. Anyway, it's all done now, cleaned and organised but crossing my fingers it will stay like this for the rest of the day, lol.
Did some cleaning and organising up here but how long will it last? Finally the kids tv is up but it's look so small - I supposed it's only 40 inches. Wait until they demand a big screen, lol.At the other end is the kids computer and the other sofa-;)

Fancy working in a Medical field...

Few of my friends are now working as a care assistant. It is an easy job to get these days but it requires a lot of hard work and time. I have been hinting the husband that maybe I should take a course in health care or any medical related courses. But he insisted because he thinks I won't be able to do it as he believes I can do better. But, I just can't be ask to pursue my photography because I think there are tons out there already and I'm not that good at it. Whereas so many care homes and hospitals here looking for care assistant and such in a less requirements. Not to mention I like their uniforms, I think it's a novelty to work in medical field. Oh, having said that, I stumble a site that sells medical accessories such as medical scrubs and etc... IF you are looking for one then it's the right place for you.

Commuting to School...

For 2 days now we've took public buses to send my kids to school. We do get some strange stares from other people. I already know what's on their mind, they thought why in the hell we are in public bus? Private school kids taking a public bus? Where is their own transport? A school bus? Well, I don't drive (not yet) but I will be, soon and the school buses don't do pick ups from where we lived. Two close, they said. And hubby is not around to take and pick the kids from school because he is away. I'm afraid, we will do this commuting often as hubby's work requires travelling at least a week every month. Oh well, buses is not bad after all unless it's raining heavily. It's only a 5 minutes walk to the bus stop at the high street and forth. So, not that bad really. Plus, the kids seems to have fun every ride we take. They are versatile and all-around kids so proud of them for not being picky. Here's their first picture at the bus stop waiting for right bus.

Stop my not-so-strict diet...

Before trying any diet pills one must know about its healthy trim side effects. The numbers of pills you can get nowadays are tremendous. So, always best to check the best and pills works well with your body. Where ever you are in the world, you can see slimming products posters around. The numbers of users are growing too - perhaps more people are body and health conscious these days. I can't blame them for I am one of the most conscious when it comes to body. Though, I don't do extremely serious to change my look but what I'm going to is to impose a strict healthy diet for my family. On occasions, we do cheat (well, most of the time, as in cheat - pig-out...), lol. Now, it's time to remind myself to lower down my calories/carbs intake because I'm no longer size 6 or size zero in which I was 6 yrs ago. Taking diet pills might be an option! One day, when I have no choice anymore.

No longer a baby...

I'm amazed the vast improvement my toddler have developed in the past few months. I may sound bias but my boy is very sharp. The way he's counting although it is only 1-10 and his ABC's, colours and pronunciations are very clear. Given him freedom to explore must have help. I've tried not to be precious with him and letting him discover and learn things his way. I was more protective with my older two and that is why they are both frightened to get mistakes. I've changed because I see things in different ways and I want my kids to be more relax and confident as they grow. In that way, they can easily deal with anything. Yes, I have slightly change my way of parenting and I hope and wish to stay this way. Prayed that God will give me more patience to deal with my children in a calm and more loving way. Anyway, here's a couple of pics with my toddler and how he'd grown? Time certainly flies! He's no longer a baby!
Just me and my toddler at home today-;) #igerspinoyWith my little baby boo-;)

Hot tub covers

Last year we were going to buy a hot tub but the family already bought one and the kids had so much fun with it as expected. Now, its almost time to get it out again from the storage room (garage) for this year's bubble fun. This time my little one can join in as he is big enough to keep up with the older ones. Oh, I must not forget to buy the hot tub spa covers because the old one was ripped apart. Might as well give a serious thought of buying a good one this time around, it is always best to spend more for a better quality stuff so it will last longer. We'll have a look later in the town after picking the kids from school. If not, I'll look online tonight.
